Yesterday Jared and his friend Josh rode their mopeds out to the county fairgrounds for the annual Blessing of the Bikes. Every year several local churches join and host a service for all of the bikers in town. When I say bikers, I mean bikers. We are talking lots of black leather and feather earrings, huge motorcycles with American Indian scenes airbrushed all over them-not 1979 mopeds. Jared and Josh's mopeds were the only that we saw among the 2000+ bikes that had gathered.
Josh and his girlfriend Sarah with Josh's 1979 Puch. Sarah, Win and I followed the guys out to the fairgrounds to join them in the fun.
Win is trying the moped on for size. He needs a couple more years yet.
Some people take their kids to the zoo or park. I guess we figured that The Blessing of the Bikes was the perfect place for a baby.Saturday, April 28, 2007
Annie and Jeremy's Engagement Photos
Last Saturday I met with Annie and Jeremy to take their engagement photographs. I am photographing their wedding this August. After some rather unexpected weather in the weeks prior we ended up scoring a great day for their engagement photos, as you can see. Annie and Jeremy were fabulous they really knew how to be natural and comfortable in from of the camera. Annie's smile is really fun to photograph. Here is a little sample of some of my favorites. It was very difficult to chose, there were so many great images.
Check out the rest of their engagement photographs at Pictage.

He's a SHE!
Here she is, our new little girl. We had our ultrasound today and found out that we are most likely (90% according to the technician) having a baby girl. Being used to talking about Win we'd been referring to her as he. Now we know better. We are very excited to put little dresses on a cute baby little baby girl.
The ultrasound went well and everything appears healthy and good. I've noticed that she is a very wiggly little baby, always kicking and flipping. She was up to her normal tricks for the show today, so much so that the technician was having a difficult time getting proper pictures of all of her organs and parts. We are most likely going to have another one scheduled in a couple of weeks to get a better look.

Why we love Holland
Our family has been enjoying several beautiful days lately. It has been a change since last week. It snowed for us even while we were at The Cabin.
Welcome a New Cousin
Two days ago Rachel's brother, Jed, and his wife Sara had their second girl, Beatrice Clare. She is healthy and labor went well. My mom is with them in San Francisco helping take care of her older sister Esther.
This is Win's 9th cousin. Two more are on their way before the end of summer.

Someone Grew 3/4 Inch in 4 Weeks
As Win was finishing his bath I laid out his olive green bath towel on the bathroom counter like I always do. Then I stepped out of the bathroom to grab a new diaper. 7 seconds later, when I returned to the bathroom, the towel was gone. Surprised, I glanced around the bathroom and found the towel.
At Win's last doctor's visit they said that he had grown 3/4th inch in less than a month. That explains to Jared and I why things that seemed safely out of reach are all of the sudden in danger of the curiosity of a 1 year old. We often catch him doing things that we thought he wasn't tall enough to do. That also explains why Win eats so much. I'm not exaggerating one bit when I say that Win eats more than me--and I'm pregnant!

Relaxing and Reading at The Cabin
Jared, Win and I spend the last several days in Indiana kicking back at The Cabin. My parents now own a little lake cabin on a beautiful, peaceful lake about 2 1/2 hours south of Holland. It has been in our family for about 35 years. I've been going there my entire life, Jared and I honeymooned there, now we like to make several visits a year. It is the perfect place to do very little, read, nap and get a sunburn if the season is right. Winfield decided to take a break from his day to read a little.

Tulip Time is Coming to Holland, Are YOU Ready?
Welkom to Holland. Three days ago it was 70 degrees out, now we have 5 inches of snow and more expected. We guarantee tulips every spring but that is all that we guarantee. The rest of the year anything can happen.I tried to take a photograph of the tulips but they were so completely covered in snow that I couldn't even see where they were. Here are a couple of my daffodils, defeated by the cold.

Little Friends
Our friends Josh and Catie just had their second baby. Little Soe (like Chloe but with an S) was born two days ago. She came with a hairstyle, check her out. Her older brother Noelen came for a visit today while Mom, Dad and sister transition back home. Noelen is 3 months older than Win. They are really great playmates.

Sorting
Win really likes to sort things. So far Jared and I haven't ever discerned what each of his piles means, but he always seems to know. He loves to take a basket of box of toys and remove the items from it. Each item gets a quick glance and Win decisively determines whether it gets put to the left, right, into another basket, or on the couch. Here is a picture of him sorting. Can you tell what each of his piles are?
