Sitting

Win has learned to sit and play in the last week or so. He always had the ability to sit (we think), but never had the patience to sit in one spot for more than two seconds. Now, he regularly sits and fiddles with toys for a few minutes at a time.

A Peaceful Place

Jared, Win and I spent an extended weekend at my parent's lake cabin. We love it there; it is so beautiful and peaceful. Jared and I honeymooned there seven years ago. We love that place and try to visit often.
This was our first trip with Win, at least our first trip that Win could see. It has been a busy summer and we regretted not getting down there more. We had a great time. We kept a fire going in the fireplace. We napped and read and played with Win. The cabin might be my favorite place in the world.

A Sad Loss

Jared, Win and I are spending an extended weekend at my parent's lake cabin. We are having a great time doing very little. We drove into Fort Wayne so that we could watch the U of M/OSU game. It was a little strange to be in Fort Wayne for the day while my parents are out of town.

Win looked everywhere for Grandma and Grandpa. He looked...

...out the window,

...in the bedroom,

...under the teddy bear,

...on the video shelf

...and even on the swing.

But he couldn't find them. As soon as he figured out how to use the remote...

...he joined Daddy and watched the game.

Laughing with Melissa

Here's another cute little video of Win laughing. He has such a great personality. He decided tonight that Melissa pounding a volleyball was hilarious. He pretty much crawls around grunting and giggling and climbing anything in sight.

Mr. Brown

Win has several of those little baby board books. His favorite one is called "Mr. Brown Can Moo. Can You?". Whenever we start reciting it Win crawls over to his pile of toys and rummages through them until he comes out with his Mr. Brown book. Even though there are 4 books in his toy pile, he always picks the right book.

Fall Chores

Win spent yesterday afternoon working outside. It was a beautiful afternoon, perfect for autumn yardwork. Winfield got a lot done. He repeatedly crawled under the truck, climbed the cement steps to our door and he tasted as many of the leaves as he could. All in all it was a very productive day.

Thanks for the shirt Kiah.

Civic Responsibility

This evening, Rachel and Win and I went voting. Win thought it was great - lots of people to smile at. All the people in the line also appreciated having a super cute baby to look at. While voting we let Win crawl around a little bit, much to the delight of everyone there. At one point, things did get out of hand for a minute when he knocked over my voting privacy stand, but overall everything went smoothly. The nice old man at the end of the line even gave him an "I voted" sticker too. Happy election day.

View from the neighbor's

This is the view our neighbors get alot. Win loves to look out the window more than just about anything. He is fascinated by people, swaying trees, and especially cars. Sometimes he works up a river of drool flowing down the window while he stands and stares.

Cruising

It takes him a little while, but when he gets there he does a little dance.

Some days are better than others

Win's morning nap didn't go too well today. After waking up way too early, he promptly removed both socks, then his pants, stood up, and began wailing. Being a baby can be hard.
